There is a strong correlation between energy, the environment and sustainable developm ent. In an ideal world, a society seeking sustainable development must utilize only energy resources which have little or no environmental impact. Technological changes such as energy savings on the demand side, efficiency improvements in energy production, and replacement of fossil fuels by renewable energy are typical strategies for sustainable energy development.
This research paper discusses the concept of sustainable energy, energy efficiency, and the role of carbon sinks in climate change using Ghana as a case study. International agreements and strategies for addressing climate change in Ghana are also discussed.
