This case study report focuses on a protracted interethnic dispute between the Konkombas and the Bimobas at Kpemale in the Bunkpurugu-Yunyoo district in the Northern Region of Ghana. The objectives of the study were to explore the root causes of the conflict and to examine the efficacies of the strategies adopted in addressing its causes.

 The study participants identified mutual disrespect between ethnic factions, controversy over land, and a culture of violence as the reasons for the conflict. Early warning systems, force, dialogue, and mediation are explored here and are identified as strategies that have been helpfully employed to de-escalate the conflict
